Gísli Súrsson is a monodrama based on one
of the most famous Icelandic Sagas. The story tells the tale of Gísli and his family who come to Iceland after
turbulent times in Norway. The family fares well in Iceland and enjoys peace and prosperity. But only for a while.
Through series of incidents Gísli is found guilty of murder and outlawed. He manages to escape and stay in
hiding for seven years before he meets his archetypal Saga-hero end.
The play was premired in february 2005 and has been performed over 150 times all around Iceland and abroad with great
success. The English version of Gísli Súrsson was premeried in june the same year. Gisli Sursson won
